Kindness

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” – Mark Twain

What kind of attitude do we do things in?

What kinds of small things can we do to show kindness?

Here’s a prayer for today to help us explore ‘kindness’ in our own hearts.

We continue striving to be kind to ourselves, to others and to be ‘The Hand of God in the heart of the city”.

Peace,

Prayer
Kindness?
We want to skip over this unimpressive little word to find out more the other fruits of the spirit,
But we pause and dwell on kindness for a while
Lord, what does it even mean to be kind
Does it mean that we’re nice?
Friendly?
Generous?
Polite?
What do you want us to learn when you ask us to be ‘kind’?
Because I want bigger, more impressive words then that to describe me!
Are you suggesting that being considerate, gentle, soft hearted, and agreeable are characteristics worthy of you taking notice of us?
Are you asking us to be gracious when we feel wronged?
Are you asking us to be forgiving of the very people who are milking the system and getting richer by the second while so many people are struggling to just survive?
Are you asking us to be hospitable to those who we know wouldn’t do the same for us?
Are you demanding that when we are provoked that we respond with tolerance and grace?
I think you are.
Because that’s what Jesus did for us.
For me.
Even though He knew we’d kill Him for it in the end.
Source of all kindness,
Teach us your ways so that we too can be kind in the same way you are kind to us.
Amen
